We were contracted to remove insulation from this home that had suffered from a fire. The insulation reeked of smoke, and was very wet.
The insulation was a combination of Batt Insulation and Blown In. As there was a great deal of smoke smell, it was important for every bit to be removed.
This homeowner was finishing their basement and wanted to make sure that during the construction process he did something to better control the humidity in his basement.
Closed cell spray foam was the answer that Comfenergy provided.
This home in Centreville, VA had vertical walls with fiberglass batts will have issues keeping radiant heat away from walls. SilverGlo foam boards help secure the fiberglass batts, and make an airtight seal.
A homeowner in Purcellville, VA had chronic water infiltration in her basement. This caused mold to grow, because the humidity levels in the basement were consistently over 60% for long periods of time. Mold can cause asthma like symptoms and allergies. Comfenergy crews came in and cleaned up the mold and the wet basement. Then, we took action to make sure it didn't come back by installing a perimeter basement waterproofing system including a new Super Sump Plus.
Before and after photos of a covered front porch in Dunn Loring, VA.The homeowner was allergic to the neighbors dryer sheet odors and they were entering her home through this vented covered front porch. Nothing a little SilverGlo foam boards and one part foam can't solve!!!
This Arlington, VA homeowner was remodeling their home and wanted to use spray foam for their basement. Comfenergy recommended a closed cell spray foam without a thermal barrier for this project. This type of spray foam was used for its ability to be a vapor barrier. Also, the spray foam was being covered up by drywall, so there was no need for a thermal barrier.
This Catlett, VA homeowner was having issues with their master bedroom being hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Upon an evaluation by Comfenergy, we found one of the walls of the master bedroom were adjacent to the attic above the garage. The only insulation providing a thermal barrier between this wall and the hot/cold attic on the other side, was falling fiberglass insulation.
Even if fiberglass were in place on this wall it still would not stop air movement and heat transfer through it. Fiberglass is ONLY effective if it is sandwiched on all sides by an air barrier.
Comfenergy used 2" thick SilverGlo EPS foam boards to build an additional R10 of thermal barrier along the back side of this wall. More importantly it creates an air barrier for the fiberglass and makes it effective!
Now this customer has a total of R23 on this wall and its air tight! Comfort at its best!
Cellulose Insulation was used to dense pack the cathedral ceiling of this cottage that had no insulation in the attic. We also found a cantilevered section that required dense packing as well.
