Challenge

This Catharpin, VA homeowner never used their basement in the winter because it was so cold. There was little to no insulation on the basement walls and the rim joists wre leaky allowing cold air into the basement

Solution

Comfenergy installed 2" thick Thermax foam panels on the basement walls and sealed the rim joists with closed cell spray foam.

Now the homeowner can use the basement all year round!

Notice the walls had thin fiberglass insulation. The fiberglass allowed air to transfer through it and would make the basement very cold in the winter.
