Challenge

Rodents had made a home in this Fairfax, VA attic above the garage. The homeowner had a pest control company come in and trap the rodents and relocate them. They just needed to have the attic insulation removed and replaced.

Solution

Comfenergy offers more than that. We first removed the existing insulation and disposed of it properly. Then, we vacuumed the attic floor and disinfected the attic for urine and fecal matter. Next, we sealed entry points with copper mesh as rodents hate the taste of copper. One part spray foam is used to air seal smaller air leakage gaps, and then R60 TruSoft cellulose is blown in. TruSoft cellulose is treated with chemicals to deter rodents.

This picture is showing rodent droppings in the attic above the garage. These fecal droppings and dried urine can be hazardous to the occupants of the home. So, we vacuum it out and disinfect the area too.

Here is the attic after the insulation has been removed and the air leakage points air sealed.
