Cold Bay Window-Alexandria, VA

Challenge

The bay window area of this Alexandria, VA home was causing the master bedroom to be very cold during the winter. Thermal imaging showed no insulation beneath it at all. This is an issue that Comfenergy corrects often.

Solution

The cantilever beneath the bay window was opened to find just an empty cavity. SivlerGlo foam boards and one part foam was used to air seal beneath the bay window and provide an excellent thermal barrier. Now the master bedroom is much warmer and comfortable.

The bay window on the front of this Alexandria, VA home was causing the master bedroom to be cold in the winter.

Comfenergy opened it up to find nothing inside. This is a problem!

SilverGlo foam boards and one part foam were used to air seal and provide a thermal barrier between the master bedroom and the cold air outside.

The last step is to install MDO plywood for a finished look. This picture was taken while waiting for the orange one part foam to dry so that it could be cut away by a utility knife.
