Insulation Services Case Studies: Cold Bedroom above Garage - Chantilly, VA

This Chantilly, VA homeowner had lived with a freezing cold master bedroom in the winter for too long.  Since moving into the home, in the master bedroom (over the garage) was always colder in the winter, and warmer in the summer than the rest of the house.  Several HVAC companies had inspected the furnace and air conditioner with no answers.  Comfenergy came in and performed a complete home comfort and energy evaluation.

Comfenergy opened the garage ceiling to confirm what was showing on the thermal imaging camera.  There was a HUGE air gap between the batt installed by the builder and the floors above.  Comfenergy cut a section of drywall out of the garage ceiling to access these poorly insulated and air sealed areas. Then, the air gap was filled with dense packed cellulose to keep the cold air away from the floors above.
