Challenge

A homeowner in Spotsylvania, VA wanted to lower their utility costs and make their home less drafty. Air leaks throughout their home and stack effect were contributing to these problems.

Solution

To fix this homeowner's issue, Comfenergy had to do multiple things. We had to air seal and insulate the attic to an R value of 49, spray foam the skylights, install can light covers and air seal the can lights, air seal and insulate the attic hatches, install a pop-top chimney, and dense pack the bay window seat. All of these solutions stopped the air leakage and kept the conditioned air in the home for much longer, making the home much more comfortable and saving money on energy bills.
