Challenge

This Bealton, VA homeowner called Comfenergy complaining of a cold room on the first floor of their home. Comfenergy performed an evaluation to find a vented crawl space beneath this room, making it cold and drafty in the winter months.

Solution

Comfenergy put together a solution to encapsulate this crawl space beneath the cold room. The following pictures are a step by step process that we follow to do so.

Now the room above this crawl space is nice and warm. No more socks and slippers this winter!

Here is a photo of the crawl space beneath that room. Cold, dark, and damp.

First, "dimple matting" is installed on the floor to keep the Clean Space vapor barrier from being punctured. It also allows the floor below to dry out if it ever got wet.
