This Purcellville, VA homeowner had complaints of the top floor being cold and drafty in the winter.

Solution

Comfenergy performed a full evaluation including air leakage testing, thermal imagery, and other testing to determine what was causing the issue. The homeowner thought for sure it would be the windows. However, the testing found an enormous amount of air leakage through the attic floor.

This Purcellville, VA homeowner suffered from a cold and drafty top floor. They thought it would be the windows!

Look at some of the huge air gaps in the attic floor that allowed the heated air to escape and the cold air to drop into the living space!

There were smaller air gaps too, such as holes made for wiring, and top wall plate air gaps.

This picture shows how Comfenergy sealed the top wall plate air gaps with one part spray foam.

The attic duct work had air leakage too. This picture shows how Comfenergy air sealed and insulated the connections with two part, closed cell spray foam.
