An attic hatch is one of the easiest ways for air to move in and out of an attic space. An entryway that requires an ability to open and close when needed, but should be sealed tight whenever it is not in use. Protecting conditioned, heated or cooled air, from an HVAC system can help lower energy costs. As air passes through the metal duct system it can react to room temperatures where the ducts are. A cold room with a metal duct can cool heated air moving through it, just as a hot attic with a duct in it can impact the cold air passing through it. Encapsulating HVAC ducts with spray foam keeps the environment inside of the duct safe for conditioned air to travel through.
