Windows & Doors Case Studies: Basement Windows-Ranson, WV

Challenge

This Ranson, WV homeowner was suffering from a cold/drafty basement this winter.  They could hardly use the basement if it was lower than 40 degrees outside!  Comfenergy performed a full evaluation of the home and developed a strategy to fix the cold/drafty basement once and for all.

Solution

The solution had several key components to include; some duct work modifications, rim joist air sealing, and replacement of basement windows.  The existing basement windows were single pane, aluminum framed, and basically allowed air to flow through them 24/7.  The following case study pictures are from the replacement of one of the basement windows.

The basement is now warm and cozy thanks to the team at Comfenergy!
