Radiant Barriers - Advanced Envelop Technology of the Future

Friday, April 19th, 2019 by John LeVan

Radiant Barriers are reflective materials installed in your attic that reflect energy from the sun resulting in lower Attic Temperatures.  In a Recent Energy Efficient Home Design Trends Report compiled by www.fixr.com they were ranked as one of the most popular technologies for design over the next five years.

Specifically, 24% of the energy efficient design experts surveyed replied that this technology will become more popular and included in the design of new homes over the next 5 years.

Why? Because they are inexpensive, easy to install in both new and existing homes, require no maintenance and are highly effective.  In our market the serve to lower attic temperatures by around 20 degrees Fahrenheit.  That is impactful when trying to save electricity to create cool air in the summer, and in keeping tops floors cooler.

The alternative is the installation of attic fans, which we feel lead to disastrous results, require energy to run and frequently break down.
