A study conducted by the National Association of Realtors new Sustainability Program, indicated that more than half of the Realtors polled indicated that consumers now have an active interest in the sustainability and energy efficiency of properties they are considering for purchase.  Understanding this trend has lead Realtors to promote Energy Efficient features of homes.  In fact, 71% of realtors polled indicated that they now promote sustainability and energy efficiency of their listings.  At Comfenergy, we assist them in the effort of promoting Energy Efficient Features by providing “Certificates of Completion” for a variety of improvements that we install at our customer’s homes.

The industry is responding to this effort to promote and make sense of these features with 43% of the respondents indicating that their MLS service now contains data fields to describe Energy Efficiency and Sustainability.  Locally, businesses like PEARL Certifications are growing with the promise that an independent 3rd party certification can increase the value of a home by 4% (Reference Pearl Certifications Promotional Materials).

What is interesting is that the report indicated that a mere 61% of Realtors felt confident in answering questions about home performance issues to their clients who inquired.  Comfenergy has the ability to provide training to any group of Realtors on the basics of Building Science and Energy Efficiency within a home.  We want to help Realtors obtain maximal value for their clients in a sale or purchase representation agreement.
